Parish Priest: Fr Jason Miller

Fr Jason was ordained a priest in 2008 by Bp William J. Cox.  Before moving to McAlester in 2017, Fr Jason served parishes in Tulsa and central Illinois.  He is Professor of Humanities and Director of the Honors Program at Eastern Oklahoma State College, where he teaches World Religions, Global Humanities I & II, Intro to Philosophy, Bible as Literature, World Literature I, and his personal favorite, an Honors course on J.R.R. Tolkien's The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings.  He is married to Rebecca, who teaches 4th grade at Lakewood Christian School.  Their household is rounded out by four amazing children and one giant dog.

Since 2023, Fr Jason is a Th.D. student at Kairos University.  His focus is on disability and the Church, and his dissertation is exploring how autistic persons and their families experience belonging through the Anglican liturgy, especially Holy Communion.  He graduated with the M.A. in Theology from Wesley Biblical Seminary in 2008, writing his Master's thesis on St Ephrem the Syrian's Hymns on Paradise.  He also completed over 20 graduate hours of Philosophy at Baylor University.  In the Diocese of Quincy he currently serves as Vice-President of the Standing Committee.  He has previously served as Canon Liturgist and on the Commission on Ministry.
